The Golden Tracts

The Golden Tracts

September 4, 2015 | Wendy Harris

The calls started coming in as fast as I could keep up.

“I heard about your Bible study guides, I’m a district pastor in Mindoro, I have 13 churches with small groups in each. May I have four boxes? I’ll be there tomorrow.”

“I’m from South Central Luzon Conference, may we have 26 boxes for our district?”

“I’m from 1000 missionary movement, we have ongoing Bible studies throughout the community and the world, how many can we have?”

“We have a feeding program and outreach ministry at the market every week with Bible interests, can we have some of your Bible study guides?”

They are so overjoyed that these Bible guides are free . . .

Ever since we received the container of literature from Light Bearers ministry a couple months ago, we continue to get regular calls and traffic at our door to pick up the “golden” tracts of sharing materials. Not only are local dialect Tagalog materials hard to come by, but the pastors and ministry leaders cannot afford them even when …

Nate

Nate

August 7, 2015 | David Asscherick

Here’s a miracle story. Fifteen years ago, I was preaching an evangelistic series in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The series was a joint venture with Adventist-Laymen’s Services & Industries (ASI) and the Michigan Conference of Seventh-day Adventists . ASI had provided our evangelistic team with dozens of teenage youth who would go out, knocking on doors, looking for Bible studies.

Two young ladies knocked on the door of an 18 year-old boy named Nate. Giggly and nervous, they invited him to the upcoming series. He rebuffed their invitation. Then, just as the conversation was ending, they mentioned that the speaker (me) was a skateboarder and former punk rocker. His curiosity piqued, he took the flyer.

Two days later, he drove himself to the meetings in a hearse. Yes, his car was a hearse. Nate was a punk rock kid, complete with wild hair and clothes. I knew the type well because I had been one just a few years before. Nate listened with interest, which was surprising to some, given his appearance. I was not surprised at all.

when those giggly young girls knocked on …

My ARISE Experience

My Experience as an ARISE Student

December 12, 2014 | Nicole Stallings

Being home has made me realize what a privilege attending ARISE was for my life. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was undoubtedly there! I did not know much about the instructors, but before I came I prayed that they would speak the truth of the gospel. And that they did. From the first class, my mind was full and my heart was beating for Christ. They completely exceeded my expectations. Every instructor and guest speaker had a love for Christ that I had never seen before. No matter where you were on your walk, there was never, in any type of way, judgment or condemnation. They were real humans, and every class they humbled themselves before Christ with constant prayer for the Holy Spirit’s leading. And it was evident that by the end of every session God had spoken through them.

From the first class, my mind was full and my heart was beating for Christ.

It was at this program that I began to allow Christ to heal …

Bestseller | The Clifford Goldstein Story

July 4, 2014 | Light Bearers

Clifford Goldstein didn’t believe in much, but one thing he did believe in was Truth. He just didn’t know what it was or where to find it. As the fiery writer traveled Europe and Israel in search of his novel’s soul, his quest for meaning of life continued, leading him to a different kind of altar. Little did he know that one dark night in the summer of 1979, his search would end with a decision that would change his life forever.

Just Like The Cross by David Asscherick

Just Like the Cross

May 3, 2013 | David Asscherick

I get admittedly nervous when I hear these words: “Pastor Asscherick, you changed my life.” You see, I’m not in the life-changing business; I’m just a messenger, a mail carrier. The biblical term is evangelist, one who carries a message.

That’s me.

My response has, over the years, become reflexive: “Well, thank you, but I’m sure it was Jesus Christ who changed your life, not me.”

“Yes, yes, of course,” is usually the reply. Or something like it. The point is taken, on both sides. I appreciate the affirmation, yes, but I appreciate the accuracy even more.

Jesus Christ is in the life-changing business, and He is awesome at it. For my part, I find it easy to “sell” and “tell” such a successful and consistent “product.” They say that Porsche salesmen do little more than hand out keys, because the cars sell themselves. I like that. That’s what we evangelists do: hand out keys, “the keys of the kingdom” (Matthew 16:19), no less! What we’re offering is better than …

Digging In With Digma: A Teacher’s Testimony

May 10, 2012 | David Sherwood

Have you seen the new Digma videos? If you haven’t, go watch them immediately at  digma.com , then share them with your social network. I’m serious. Stop reading this blog because someone on your “friends” list is waiting and needing to hear one of these messages. And the good news is, they are so well done that he, or she, will actually listen! After you’ve completed this modern mission trip, come back and read the rest of this article, and I’ll share with you another effective way to use these visually engaging and contemporary videos. OK, ready? Go to  digma.com  and I’ll see you in a few…

You’re back, great.

So here’s my own Digma story.

I was looking for a way to lead my junior Bible class into a discussion about theodicy; that is, how God can be all-powerful and yet allow an evil world to exist. The discussion would lead into a Bible study on the great controversy motif of Scripture, which they could then share with others. That was the plan.

So first …

A Crippled Arm, Doubts, and Something Better - Bryant Rodriguez

A Crippled Arm, Doubts and Something Better

May 8, 2012 | Bryant Rodriguez

His right arm struck his right thigh whenever he made a good point. As Matt Parra preached on Acts 17, biblical balance, and the logical fallacies of traditional definitions of balance, one thought streamed through my mind:

I’m supposed to be here. I know I am. God called me here.

For some time I had wanted to attend  ARISE  and learn from David and Matt, the Rosario brothers and all the great teachers that grace the whiteboard. But then, when I realized it was going to happen, and that the calendar date for the  Cornerstone Program would soon be upon me, all I could do was question my motives.

“Why do I want to go?”

Did I want to flatter myself by being among men of God and showcase my talents? Was I merely following the footsteps of my best friend, a subconscious mimicry? Did I expect a fix-all-my-problems-and-spit-me-out-as-Mark-Finley treatment? Doubts, questions, and fears hung above me as I packed my suitcase, as Delta Airlines brought me to Eugene, and even as the …
