We comment a lot: on videos, on social media, on blogs and forums, and face to face. Life is full of comments. We comment to learn, to express our opinions and to connect—sometimes across the world. As Christians, we have a responsibility to comment in a positive, constructive manner. For commenting on lightbearers.org, we’ve summarized this responsibility in three simple principles:
Do you like the post? Say more than just “great post” or “I agree.” Tell us why or what resonated with you. Do you disagree? Explain why. Comments should contain original thought (more than just a quote) and stay on the subject of the original post. Off-topic comments will be removed. Contributions to this conversation should not contain links leading elsewhere.
Cultivate a respectful tone, especially toward those with whom you disagree. We approve respectful, constructive comments whether we agree with them or not. Respect other reader’s time. Comments are for conversation, not monologues. Thoughts over 500 words will be removed. Comments that misrepresent Light Bearers or its staff will also be removed.
We encourage you to use your real name but not your personal information (email, phone, details about where you live, etc.) in your comment. Your email address is required to verify you’re a real person when commenting, but we will never disclose it to anyone else.
