David Asscherick’s Letter to the Central California Conference

Dear Pastoral and Ministry Colleagues,

It is with both a heavy and a happy heart that I write to you. Why? Yesterday (May 12) the ARISE team made the decision to leave the Central California Conference. This was no easy decision. Our love and appreciation for this superb conference and its leadership is as strong today as it was when we arrived two and a half years ago. Simply put: we love the CCC!

So what has happened? Why leave then? The answer is that God has led ARISE to join forces with Light Bearers Ministry in Oregon. Numerous wonderful providences have occurred which have persuaded us that God is moving ARISE in this direction. We’ll be producing a full report and statement soon, so be on the lookout for that.

I have personally spoken to Elder Ramiro Cano about the doors that have opened up, and his words to me were, “I can see that God is in this; we’ll miss you, but you most certainly go with our prayers and blessings!”

Since the beginning of 2009, ARISE has been privileged to work hand-in-hand with the Sonora Church and Pastors Nathan Renner (ARISE’s co-founder) and Brian Simmons. We will miss them dearly. They have embraced us as family and fellow laborers with Christ. It would not be an exaggeration to say that our time here in Sonora has been near perfect. One could not hope for a friendlier, more hospitable, or more genuinely loving church. From the depths of our hearts the ARISE team says: Thank you Sonora Seventh-day Adventist Church! Words cannot express the depth of our love and appreciation for you!

So you can see why my heart is both heavy and happy. Heavy because we’re leaving our beloved conference and local church, and happy because God has opened some amazing providential doors that we simply cannot not walk through! We covet your prayers as we move forward with Jesus! You will certainly have ours!

And again, be on the lookout for some very exciting things to come from ARISE and Light Bearer’s new joint venture.

Your brother in Christ,
David Asscherick
ARISE Director
