Everyone loves a good story. Especially God! After all, He wrote, made possible, and told the ultimate story of love and redemption. Here at Light Bearers and ARISE, we’re passionate about this story. Our 13-week The Story program is all about discipleship in the context of the biblical narrative. With intense in-class instruction augmented by genuine “in the community” ministry, the program provides the perfect cornerstone for building a Christ-centered, life-long personal ministry. Our goal is to share The Story with you, so you can share it with others, who can share it with others…

ARISE is not an accredited school. Therefore, we cannot guarantee college/university credit for the completion of our programs. ARISE is able to issue a transcript, however, it is at the discretion of each receiving school whether or not the credits will be accepted. Currently, Andrews University is the only school that has partnered with ARISE to accept the completion of The Story program as transferable credits. You will have to contact Andrews University to find out how many credits will transfer. (back to FAQ)
Once we receive your completed online application, application fee, and three references, we will typically review your application and email you a final decision within one to two weeks. The longest wait is typically your reference forms, so be sure to ask your references to submit the online reference form as soon as possible. (back to FAQ)
Because we have not done comparative research on any other program, the best way to see the difference between our program and any other is to compare the information (curriculum, instructors, philosophy, format, etc.) of each school. All of our information is available on our website. One thing to note is that our goal is not to train Bible workers, pastors, or evangelists, but rather disciple individuals as followers of Christ and to strengthen their relationship with Him. Most of our students do not come with the purpose of going into full-time ministry. Though some feel called to full-time ministry after the program, most graduates go back to their school, church, community as lay members with a passion to spread the gospel. (back to FAQ)
We only accept students that are at least 18 years old by the time the program begins but have no age limit. The majority of our students are typically between 18-30, but we also get some in their 40s, 50s, and 60s. (back to FAQ)
We typically get between 40 and 50 students. (back to FAQ)
We do not hire graduates and cannot guarantee full or part-time ministry positions elsewhere after the completion of the program. However, if we receive calls from churches, conferences, or ministries with job opportunities, we send them recommendations of graduates that we think could be a good fit on a case-by-case basis. (back to FAQ)
ARISE is a discipleship program that aims to teach you the loving character of God through the narrative of the Bible and give instruction on being an effective witness for Christ. Lord willing, this will result in our students going back to their work, school, and church as on-fire disciples for Jesus. Some graduates feel called by God to go into full-time ministry, and our program can help build a foundation for that. However, ARISE isn’t specifically designed to train full-time ministers, but rather to equip lay people. (back to FAQ)
No, we are not involved in the visa process. For every international applicant that is accepted, we send an invitation letter that you can use when applying for your tourist visa. Since ARISE is not an accredited school, attendees of the The Story Program are not technically “students” and thus are not eligible to receive a student visa such as an I-20. International attendees typically apply for a visitors or tourist visa, such as a B-1 or B-2. You will need to contact your country’s immigration office for details. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. (back to FAQ)
Due to the very intense schedule and the need for you to be focused throughout the program, you are not allowed to be employed or work while at ARISE. (back to FAQ)
ARISE does not have any work positions available before, during, or after the program for students. Furthermore, our policy states that the full tuition amount must be paid no later than 30 days from the start of the program. (back to FAQ)
